The ATG DryOil System is a cost effective, fully automatic, skid-mounted unit. This unit is designed to process large quantities of waste oil continuously and remove the water from it.

Process Description
The ATG flash drying process used by this system is optimized for minimum capital cost, operating & maintenance cost, and for high volume continuous applications. The wet waste oil is pumped continuously through an oil / water separator where most of the mechanically entrained non emulsified water is separated. The water stream from this stage is combined with the "dirty" condensate stream removed from the waste oil later and is pumped to wastewater treatment if required by local regulations. The wet oil stream leaving the separator is then heated in a custom heater. The water in the heated oil is converted to steam in the flash chamber and is separated from the waste oil stream. This steam is condensed to form a "dirty" condensate. This condensate will contain the volatile organics from the waste oil as well as small quantities of entrained oil. The water is separated from the volatile organic layer and is combined with the water stream from the oil / water separator. The volatile organic layer is pumped to a storage tank for disposal or use as fuel.

A. Water Removal Efficiency:

It is expected that over 99% of the water in the oil will be removed by this process, regardless of the initial water content. It is quite possible to achieve oil as dry as 0.1% water, if required by the application. The exact drying efficiency is dependent upon waste oil composition, waste oil throughput, and the clients requirements.

B. Equipment Design and Selection:

The system is skid mounted and fully automatic. The ATG DryOil System designed for un-attended 24 hour operation with automatic shutdown and alarms on any potential system problems. Stainless steel is used for all process components because of the potentially corrosive properties of wet oil. System heat is supplied by steam from a packaged boiler to be fired by fuel oil or natural gas. Storage vessels can be provided with the system if required.

C. Utilities Requirements:

The following utilities will be required: Natural gas or fuel oil, cooling water & small amounts of electric power for the controls. If steam is available on site at a 200 psig or higher, then a packaged boiler may not be required. In addition the water removed from the oil may be classified as a waste stream and may require further treatment or off site disposal.
